September Craft Bar :: Apple Crafts is this Friday

Celebrate back-to-school season with apple-themed crafts at September’s Craft Bar. Join us at Mignonette Bridal with $5 to enjoy food, drinks, and crafting! Print with apples, decoupage an apple-themed candle holder, join our knitting/crochet circle (bring your own project and supplies for this one!), or craft with our supply stash.

Etsy Craft Party this Friday night

You guys! Our Etsy Craft Party is this Friday at 6 pm at Chicago’s Mignonette Bridal, 1747 W Belmont. This post has more info about what we’ll be up to on Friday. For today, we wanted to take the time to thank our amazing presenters, sponsors, coordinators and volunteers.

On Wednesday, August 29, five Chicago Whole Foods Market stores (Lakeview, Halsted, Lincoln Park, Gold Coast & South Loop) will donate 5% of that day’s sales to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.  Proceeds will benefit the hospital’s new ‘HOT Healthy Living’ program, developed by the hospital’s Division of Hematology-Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation (HOT) to promote wellness and support healthy weight management in children with blood disorders and cancer.

July Craft Bar Roundup :: Outdoor Fun (in 101 degree heat)

Craft Bar’s outdoor fun-themed July event, was a so much fun, despite the ridiculous Chicago heat wave. Dozens of attendees enjoyed a watermelon keg, boozy snow cones from Jo Snow Syrups, PBR, and a bunch of summery crafts.

Kpoene from Mignonette helped crafters recreate t-shirts into sweatbands/neck coolers, belts, bags and more. Kaicy from Jo Snow Syrups showed off her muscles as she hand-cranked out boozy and non-boozy snow cones, and Heidi from Hands Occupied shared recipes for making giant bubbles, biodegradable lawn paint and Edible Sparklers (get the recipe here). It’s hot outside… cool down at tonight’s Craft Bar (there’s AC!)

Craft Bar is TONIGHT from 6 to 8 pm. Learn about how to make your backyard BBQ spectacular. We’re still going to do a bunch of our planned crafts but since it’s almost literally a million degrees outside, we’ve got some special indoor drinking and DIYs to help beat the heat. The venue has AIR CONDITIONING and a BACKYARD HOSE, so get back to your childhood and CHILL at tonight’s cool event.

June Craft Bar Highlights

Craft Bar’s second event, A Handmade Wedding, was a huge success on Friday. Dozens of attendees enjoyed custom cocktails, PBR, cream puffs, and lots of DIY wedding crafts!

Heidi from Hands Occupied lead workshops on the wide variety of crafts she made for her wedding and talked to brides to be about how to make their weddings handmade and stick to a budget. Jo Snow Syrups was in attendance to teach patrons how to make the oh-so-tasty Dutch 74 cocktail. Kelli from Due Sorelle Beaded Jewelry Boutique helped folks make precious birds nest necklaces, and Lisa from Grass Green Design lead brides in a tissue paper pom pom workshop that would have made even Martha Stewart smile. All in all, everyone had so much fun! Check out our album from Friday’s event to see the highlights.

June Craft Bar This Friday :: A Handmade Wedding

Friday, June 1, 6-8 p.m. ~ RSVP on Facebook or Meetup!

This Friday, learn about great ways to add a personal touch to your wedding with a special edition of Craft Bar.

Our workshops will teach you how to handcraft everything from simple décor to hair adornments, upcycled jewelry, paper projects, a belt bar, and even how to create your own signature cocktail. Afraid of crafty overload?  Don’t worry – we’ve taken all the guesswork out of making these gorgeous and simple projects!

All materials and instruction will be provided. Drinks and snacks will be available at the cash bar.

Event co-hosted by Mignonette and Urban Folk Circuit.

May Craft Bar Highlights

Craft Bar launched on Friday, May 4 at Mignonette Bridal. We all enjoyed sangria, cream puffs, and frozen custard while we crafted the evening away.

Heidi from Urban Folk Circuit lead a workshop on upcycling t-shirts into haute accessories, like necklaces, headbands, tote bags and hair fascinators. Kpoene from Mignonette showed attendees how to make fabric flowers and use vintage buttons to make bracelets and more. We all had a blast!
